We recently attended a “marriage night” at our church, and we were asked to define our “superpower.” We chose the word “perseverance.” We have been through a lot together, but our faith in Christ has been our firm foundation through it all. We have been incredibly blessed in ways would could never have imagined, and we have also leaned on God for strength during times of loss, waiting, and unexpected difficulties. But through each season, we are so grateful for the love we have for each other, and even more for our faith in God, who is strong when we are not.
When we were first introduced by a mutual friend at dinner one night, little did we know all that God had planned for us. We recently celebrated our 10th anniversary. We have supported one another through late nights of studying as we were completing our degrees and celebrated graduations and job offers. We have danced together at many weddings, but we have also cried together at funerals. We have held hands in hospital rooms and nursed each other back to health. We have been isolated together in quarantine (and as it turns out, we really do enjoy each other’s company!). We have poured each other more morning cups of coffee than we can count. We have laughed together almost every single day. We have prayed through it all, and we cannot wait for the next adventure.
Dear Birth Mom,
Hello! First, please allow us to express how much respect we have for you in the brave choice you are making in considering an adoption plan for your child. We know that you want the best for your baby, and we cannot imagine how overwhelming this must be.
Thank you so much for taking the time to get to know us. Our little family of two is truly ready to grow, and we cannot wait to share all that we have with a child. We have a lot of love to give, and we are hoping for an opportunity to share this love, and our life, with a child.
It feels as if adoption has been part of our story from the very beginning. On our first date, Nick shared pictures with me of his “buddy” Brett, his then eight-year-old cousin, who happened to be adopted. I soon learned had three other young cousins who were also adopted. We have loved watching his cousins grow up and witnessing his family’s adoption story. Adoption naturally became a topic of conversation for the two of us early on in our relationship. We later found out pregnancy would be risky for my health after I recovered from a rare autoimmune disease. We are both so thankful that I had a full recovery to good health, and we feel blessed that we can now grow our family in this way.
We pray that our profile helps you gain an understanding of who we are and to know our heart to love a child.
~Melanie and Nick
Nick is a loving, dedicated husband, who works extremely hard both at his job and in our home. He enjoys completing home improvement projects, and he is handy with a hammer and a drill. He is often the guy people lean on for help and guidance in his career as a Human Resources Manager, and he is always willing to go the extra mile. He makes me laugh with his corny jokes, and he will sing (sometimes off-key) or dance (sometimes off-beat) to cheer me up when I’ve had a tough day. He listens well and talks to me about everything. He really is my best friend, and he loves me so well. Kids are immediately drawn to Nick’s energy. When we spend time with extended family, there is often one child sharing a piggy back ride with Nick while another is following him around waiting to share a story. I know he will be an incredible dad.
We are so blessed to have our family close by. We are grateful for the memories we have made at family holiday celebrations, birthday dinners, and regular Saturdays spent together at each other’s’ homes. We have supported each other through life’s challenges, and we find love and security knowing we can lean on one another for encouragement and help. Nick’s parents are known as “Gigi and Papa” to our niece and nephew, and they are the most loving grandparents. In the summers, they host family “pool parties” in their backyard, and we have an annual “cookie baking” weekend together at our home each Christmas season. Nick’s dad often comes to our home on the weekends to partner with Nick on home improvement projects. It is our joy and our privilege to be involved in our niece and nephews’ lives as they grow up.
Fun facts:
• Loves to grill out in our backyard in the spring and summer months
• Grew up in an athletic family and enjoys watching and playing sports
• Was an Eagle Scout
• Enjoys completing projects around our home and maintaining our yard
• Likes to collect and build models as a hobby

• Comes from a musical family and loves to sing! You will often find her singing around our home.
• Was once in a parade in Disney World
• Enjoys baking and decorating treats to share with our friends and family
• Likes to curl up with a good book, a fuz
We are thankful to live in a warm and inviting home. Our house has three bedrooms and two bathrooms and it’s located in a quiet neighborhood with lots of trees. The neighborhood sidewalks allow us to enjoy our daily walks together. We have wonderful neighbors, including many families with young children. We find ourselves gathering with family and friends most often around our dining room table, but we also love having picnics and cookouts on our screened-in porch. We enjoy sitting out there, just the two of us, sipping coffee in the morning, or having a game or movie night by the fireplace in our cozy living room. Our backyard provides a great play area for us and our pups, and we know this will make a great space to play outside with our child someday. We are also thankful to live in a great school district. Two elementary schools are just a short walk from our house. We love waving to our neighbors as they walk with their children to school in the morning.
